Brocantes and vide greniers are always worth a visit to pick up those bargains and treasures! 

Larger brocantes are held from time to time in Verteillac and Riberac, Cognac, Angoulême and Aubeterre, and further afield in Bordeaux and Brantôme.

Local smaller vide grenier and brocantes are frequent during the summer and autumn. They are often advertised locally and on apps such as Brocabrac. 

Sometimes in the summer they are held as part of a village fête or festival, and accompanied by entertainment. You may be lucky enough to see traditional Charentais dancing, vintage cars, and of course in our rural location there are displays  vintage tractors and farming equipment.

The French generally love making a day of such events, and you will often find tables set for lunch with bread, cheese and a bottle of wine. 

For the best brocante bargains though, get there early!
